For four consecutive Thursdays starting October 9th, the Texas Music Cafe in Waco transforms into an intimate, captivating hub for storytelling and song with the return of its highly-regarded Places and Spaces Songwriter Series. This event is a jewel in the Texas music scene, offering a deep dive into the art of songwriting through a unique, educational, and thoroughly entertaining format.
The series theme, “Places and Spaces,” sets the creative mandate, inviting three featured singer-songwriters each week to share original compositions that transport the audience—whether to a specific physical location, a powerful emotional landscape, or a profound spiritual space that inspired the lyric and melody.
Each evening runs from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with doors opening at 7:30 PM. The performance style is an intimate “in the round,” where the songwriters share the stage, taking turns to perform four original songs each that fit the evening’s theme.
This format fosters a rare level of connection between artist and audience. Beyond the music, the songwriters share the stories, inspirations, and emotional context behind their compositions. The night concludes with a 10-minute Q&A session, allowing the audience to engage directly with the artists and deepen their understanding of the creative process.
