The Mexican Standoff is an all-female Mexican-American music group based in Los Angeles with deep roots in Mexico City. They are best known for pioneering a unique, high-energy genre they call “Mexamericana” (or “Ranchero Alternative”), which bridges the Latin, country, and punk scenes.
The band seamlessly blends traditional Mexican genres like mariachi, ranchero, and cumbia with American country, folk, and rock, all delivered with a sharp punk attitude. Singing in both English and Spanish, they are celebrated for combining rich, sweet harmonies with socially conscious, biting, and sometimes comedic lyrics.
