We're Grateful You're Here.

Volunteers are the heartbeat of Texas Music Café®. We couldn’t do what we do without folks like you — thank you for stepping up to support Texas music. Whether you have a few hours a month or want to make a deeper commitment, there is a meaningful role waiting for you. Additionally, volunteering with TMC connects you to a community of artists, educators, and music lovers who share your passion for preserving the cultural legacy of Texas. As a result of our volunteers’ dedication, we’ve been able to expand our programming, reach more students, and document hundreds of live performances for future generations.

Mentors & Teachers

Lead, teach, and inspire new generations of musicians and media professionals. As a mentor or teacher with Texas Music Café®, you bring your expertise directly to students who are hungry to learn. Furthermore, you help shape the next wave of Texas artists by sharing real-world knowledge in areas like songwriting, music production, audio engineering, and performance. Whether you’re a working musician, a retired educator, or a media professional, your experience has value here. Mentors typically commit to one session per month and receive full support from our education team.

General Volunteers

From set-up to ticketing, events run smoother with your help. General volunteers are the backbone of every Texas Music Café® taping and community event. Additionally, you’ll work alongside a friendly, passionate crew in a behind-the-scenes environment that gives you a front-row seat to live music history being made. Roles include stage setup, audience coordination, merchandise, hospitality, and front-of-house support. No prior experience is required — just a love of music and a willingness to show up. Most events require a 3–4 hour commitment and are held on weekday evenings and select weekends.

Student Volunteers

Learn the ropes while giving back to your community. Student volunteers at Texas Music Café® gain hands-on experience in live television production, audio engineering, camera operation, social media, and event coordination. Furthermore, many of our student volunteers go on to pursue careers in media, music, and the arts — and they credit their time at TMC as a turning point. As a result, we’ve built a pipeline of talented young professionals who carry the TMC mission forward. Students from Baylor University, McLennan Community College, and local high schools are especially encouraged to apply. Academic credit arrangements may be available through your institution.
